When I first read "The Story Of An Hour" I was a bit confused. I read it a few times and did some research on the study sheets and read a few classmates blogs until I was able to gather my thoughts and form my opinion on the story. Initially I felt sorry for Mrs. Mallard, I also felt sorry for Josephine and Robert because I can not imagine the news of them sharing of the "passing of her husband because of a railroad accident" being anything but easy. As we learn that instead of Mrs. Mallard feeling sorrow for the days ahead she said her "days seemed so long and now looking ahead they were filled with freedom and peace." I can envision that when someone feels this way they were not contended in their life. In those days divorce was fround upon. So this was Mrs. Mallards chances living her life and being happy.
